The Magic have two open roster spots, and it's pretty much certain that one of those spots will be used on a big man. The team was in the market for some help down low before trading away Adonal Foyle and Brian Cook. Now, it guarantees they'll be in the market. The Magic want to make a championship run, and a late-season acquisition could add that rebounding or defensive presence to give them just that bit more of an edge (Think PJ Brown of last year). While losing those players has no real effect on the current team, it leaves the Magic thin in case of an injury to Tony Battie or Marcin Gortat. Here are some current power-forwards that the Magic could be interested in. Mikki Moore Recently cut by the Sacramento Kings, Moore could likely be landed with the veteran's minimum. Moore is a solid rebounder who won't hurt you on offense, but his defense is weak. Basically, he gives you no more or less than Tony Battie or Marcin Gortat. Moore would give the Magic two Nebraska players (Tyrron Lue), which is never a good thing. Chance of signing with Magic: 5 percent Danny Fortson One of the more physical players of this century, Fortson would provide some toughness that the Magic sorely lack. He hasn't been in the league for almost 2 years, so there's some worry there. But when he played, he was a fantastic rebounder and physical presence of defense. Unfortunately, I don't see Otis Smith going for a player like Fortson, who could potentially mess up Orlando's chemistry. Chance of signing with Magic: 5 percent Antoine Walker One of the softest players around, Walker would fit into Orlando's scheme well. He's more or less a broke man's Rashard Lewis. Walker is not afraid to shoot, and he's got enough size to play power forward. Think Brian Cook, but with a little bit more talent. Chance of signing with Magic: 10 percent Robert Horry His veteran leadership and toughness are attributes that could give the Magic an edge they currently lack. Mr. Big Shot can hit the 3-pointer, making him able to fit into Orlando's system, and his playoff experience would be a huge service to the young and inexperienced Magic. This year, Horry has said all along that he expects to sign with a contender down the stretch. Chance of signing with Magic: 20 percent Somebody from the D-League More than likely, the Magic will forego a veteran big and go the D-league route to fill up the roster. If the Magic trust Tony Battie as their No. 2 big man, then look for a youngster from the NBDL to join the Magic. There are far too many available options to name.
