Note: since there is no basketball, and we were supposed to have games, we will imagine there were games. With the help of AccuScore, Strat-o-Matic and Basketball Prospectus, we can imagine an NBA season even if there is not one actually going on. So with that, we begin to imagine the 2011-12 season.
Some nights the offense just works. And on those nights, there is nothing any opponent can do against a team as strong as the Magic. Absolutely nothing.
Noboby is going to be able to score 120 points against the Magic ... much less 140.
The Wizards were finished very early on as it left Flip Saunders wondering why his team will not show up on time. And all the Wizards could do was laugh, just to keep from crying. Dwight Howard took advantage of the weak inside presence of JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche for 43 points and 17 rebounds. Orlando battered the Wizards inside for a 140-94 win at Amway Center on Friday (or at least, they would have).
The Magic used a 37-10 run in the first and second quarters to take control of the game. They were up 14 after one quarter and scored at least 34 points in the first three quarters of the game. Orlando led by as many as 48 points while shooting 60 percent.
Every once in a while Orlando has one of these games where things just go right. Ryan Anderson added 21 points as the Magic had six players score in double figures. Nick Young led Washington with 27 points.
Even AccuScore had Orlando winning this game after predicting struggles in the early part of the season. Dwight Howard got help from Jameer Nelson in that simulation to secure the win.
Doubt we will see offensive explosions like this any time soon.
Don't forget that in real life, Dwight Howard's all star game to benefit the D12 Foundation is tomorrow! While I will not be able to make it, I will be retweeting coverage, photos and thoughts as I receive them and will try to collect links to recaps, photos and videos from the game. If you are in Orlando, be sure to get your tickets if they have not sold out yet and head on down to UCF Arena!
