ESPN's David Thorpe, the worldwide leader's expert on NBA rookies, came out with his annual list honoring the best of the rookie bunch on Wednesday.
While some interesting names are absent from the list (namely former No. 1 pick Greg Oden), Orlando's Courtney Lee comes in on Thorpe's All-Rookie Third Team, and on his All-Defensive Team.
Here are Thorpe's thoughts on Lee:
All-Defensive:
Courtney Lee: The best perimeter defender on the league's best defensive team.
All-Rookie Third Team:
Courtney Lee, Magic: A starting guard for a top-four team in the league, he plays his role to near perfection. He is third among rookies in 3-point shooting (78-for-187).
Full disclosure: While I trust/value Thorpe's opinions on the NBA, it should be noted that he works extensively with Lee during the offseason at his training facility in Clearwater, Fla.
