JJ Redick is infamously known as the leading endorser of Better Basketball, a series of instructional videos on how to improve your jump shot.
Redick, admittedly, has never seen the video - but with the way he's shooting right now, it may be time to pop that thing into his DVD player.
Redick is 3-for-25 from the field in the last four games, and he's shooting 15 percent from 3-point range over that stretch. His shot is so fluid and so flawless, it's difficult to pinpoint a reason for the shooting slump.
"It’s weird, man, it really is," Redick said. "Maybe it’s because I’m chasing [Ray Allen] around my legs are a little toasted. I’m getting good looks. My teammates are doing a great job of finding me on the weak side. I know the next one’s going in."
Redick has started all six games this series, and his offensive woes have been minimized because Allen has been struggling even worse by going 5-of-36 from behind the arc. It's difficult to say whether Allen's struggles are interpersonal or because of Redick's defense.
Redick is 1-of-12 from inside the 3-point line, so attacking the basket or getting higher percentage looks isn't the answer. I think the answer is the easy one: keep firing away.
"I tell him to keep shooting," Dwight Howard said. "He’s Better Basketball. He knows better than anyone that he’s going to miss shots, but he’s going to make the majority of them. I’m sure, tomorrow night, JJ is going to come out shooting and they’re going to fall."
Added Stan Van Gundy: "It’s a slump. I don’t make anything of it more than that. He certainly, the past four games, has struggled to get the ball in the basket. But people go through it. Ray Allen’s going through it, too. It happens."
