As you may have heard, last week Dwight Howard announced the formation of the Dwight Howard Fund to raise money to help at-risk youth around the world. The first cause Howard will donate money to is the Haiti Relief effort.
Howard, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and this year's winner of the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award, said he was moved to do something international after spending time in South Africa this summer. And if you know Howard's story and the way he was brought up and carries himself, you know this is a genuine feeling from him. Howard constantly works for the betterment of the Orlando community and, from his actions, you can tell he feels passionate about philanthropic efforts.
Howard made an initial donation of $100,000 and is challenging fans to support this worthy cause.
If you donate to the challenge, by clicking on the link to the right or by visiting pinkdingo.com or dwighthowardfund.org, you will automatically be entered for the chance to win a $500 shopping spree with Dwight Howard at Adidas. You can make a donation for as little as $2.99 and you can enter up to four times a day. Obviously the giving is more important than the prize.
Here comes the kicker. If you click on the link to the right, you will get a second chance to win that shopping spree. If Orlando Magic Daily has the most people donate through our site, we will also raffle off a $500 Adidas shopping spree with Dwight Howard to one of the readers who donated through our site.
Plenty of good reasons to give!
