Magic acquire Rafer Alston
The Orlando Magic acquired Rafer Alston from the Houston Rockets for Brian Cook and a first rounder, an NBA source confirmed on Thursday afternoon. Alston, a 32-year-old point guard, is averaging 11.5 points and 5.4 assists per game this season. He's been the Rockets' starting point guard for the last three years. Alston fills the need for a starting point guard, which is open since Jameer Nelson's torn labrum will likely sideline him for the season. UPDATE (3:29): The trade has now been reported by the Orlando Sentinel and ESPN.
