Mickael Pietrus returns, Magic rip Pacers
DWIGHT'S DOMINANCE The Magic are just a bad matchup for the Pacers. Most of that has to do with Dwight Howard. Superman had 22 points and 10 rebounds, well below his season averages against the Pacers. In three games against Indiana this year, Dwight is averaging 26 points, 16 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. And he has a much nicer mustache than anyone on the Pacers. After the game, Danny Granger called the Magic "the best team in the East."
Mickael Pietrus returned to action tonight, and he brought with him some type of sinful vengeance. In his first game in more than a month, the Frenchman scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading the Magic to a 135-111 victory over the Pacers. No one expected Pietrus to play, and reports were saying he’d return on Sunday at the earliest. Stan Van Gundy was surprised he practiced on Monday. Regardless, it appears MP is healthy enough to destroy for the foreseeable future. The return of Pietrus adds a whole new dimension to the Magic. When he’s healthy, they’re the second-best team in East behind the Celtics, and a legitimate threat in the postseason. Pietrus is big enough to guard any player at the 2 or 3, and he shoots well but doesn’t need the ball on offense. JJ Redick and Keith Bogans were cheerleaders until the final minutes and the game was out of hand.
