New Jersey Nets at Orlando Magic, 7 p.m.
TV: FS Florida Radio: AM 580 WDBO Spanish Radio: AM 1030 WONQ Previous meetings: Magic 101, Nets 84, Feb. 8
It's a classic trap game for the Magic tonight. The Nets (27-34) are well under .500, and the Magic have games against Boston and Detroit looming on Sunday and Monday. Orlando's shots have been off after a couple days off in the past - they better hit their shots because New Jersey is good enough to win.
The Magic have struggled against backcourt scorers lately, and the Nets have two of the best backcourt scorers in the league: Devin Harris and Vince Carter. Those two will be the responsiblity of Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee, respectively. Ouch. Good thing there are several mismatches in Orlando's favor, such as Hedo Turkoglu vs. Trenton Hassell, Rashard Lewis vs. Yi, and Dwight Howard vs. Brook Lopez.
Some more game notes, courtesy of the Magic:
Orlando is 41-34 all-time vs. New Jersey (22-15 at home, 18-19 on the road, 2-0 at Tokyo, Japan) during regular season play, including 3-1 last season.
The Magic have won six of the last eight meetings with the Nets.
The Magic have won three of the last five matchups in Orlando, but split the last eight trips to New Jersey.
Anthony Johnson played two seasons (100 games) with New Jersey from 2001-03 and helped the Nets reach back-to-back NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003.
