1) Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports the Magic will exercise their option on Nikola Vucevic's contract for the 2013-14 season. Vucevic is expected to start at center on opening night and is embracing his opportunity in Orlando.
2) The goal for tonight's game? Jacque Vaughn said it is to keep everyone healthy and avoid any further injuries.
3) Dwight Howard revealed in an interview with Stephen A. Smith that he really wanted to go to New Jersey/Brooklyn last year and expected to get traded before the season began.
4) For Chandler Parsons, tonight's game is a homecoming as the Lake Brantley High School product returns to the city he grew up in. As Jonathan Feigen of Ultimate Rockets writes, Parsons has taken on a leadership role in just his second year in the NBA. 5) Evan Dunlap of Orlando Pinstriped Post writes about some of the challenges E'Twaun Moore faces as he converts to point guard in the NBA, especially after he struggled against Memphi on Wednesday. Last week, I noted that Moore is still searching for his natural position in the NBA.
6) Jeremy Lin continues to struggle this preseason as the Rockets' prize free agent signing has not quite delivered so far. It begs the question... could this team be really bad?
7) The Rockets are looking to pick up the pace this year with a young roster hoping to compete in the West, Brandon K. Scott of SBNation writes.
8) Tony Dungy tells Shannon Owens of the Orlando Sentinel the Magic will be just fine. However John Hollinger of ESPN.com writes that the Dwight Howard deal was not the only questionable move Orlando made and predicts a 16-win season.
